Like most things from the 1980s, Jem and the Holograms have enjoyed a comeback with reruns on The Hub, a complete series DVD set, and premium-quality doll re-dos from Integrity Toys. Now, their OTHER rivals from the 1980s, the Stingers, finally get toys of their own!

Hasbro's 30th anniversary panel for the Transformers toy lines at San Diego Comic-Con made a series of announcements that had many a Transfan salivating, from crazy Construct-Bots to the "Thrilling 30" line of premium figures to an all-new character created by fans.

Transformers Construct-Bot Breakfast Banner

Don’t try and tackle a Transformer before breakfast. Even if it’s only 10 inches high.

Hasbro previewed its new line of Transformers Construct-Bots at San Diego Comic-Con this morning, which celebrates the 30th anniversary of the franchise next year. Torn between a table laden with breakfast and a table laden with Transformers Construct-Bot pieces, I over-enthusiastically found myself trying to navigate ball joints at 8am before I’d even had my first cup of coffee. Error. The sets may be aimed at 6 years and up but I found myself struggling to clip poor Ironhide’s feet onto his legs, eventually leaving him to hobble as I abandoned construction for croissants.

At the recent "Transformers" convention "BotCon" in San Diego -- just a few weeks before San Diego Comic-Con, takes place -- Hasbro made a number of official announcements about upcoming Transformers releases for the rest of 2013 -- and we've got some of our pics for the best of the best.

As if the wait for San Diego Comic-Con wasn't hard enough, Mimoco just announced these extremely adorable SDCC exclusive MIMOBOTS! Now you'll never have to leave home without your trusty "My Little Pony" "Fan Favorite" (DERPY!) and "Star Wars" Chewbacca flash drives again!

Here's our look at some of the coolest toy news of the past week!

THERE ARE PROBABLY DRUG ADDICTIONS CHEAPER THAN MASTERPIECE TRANSFORMERSBig Bad Toy Store has pre-orders for new Takara Masterpiece Transformers, including Bumblebee and Wheeljack!  I still await Galvatron, or at least an Hasbro-issued US Megatron I can afford.

NO, THEY DON'T RUN AT YOU SUPER-FAST: Speaking of Big Bad Toy Store, if you enjoy "World War Z" this weekend, there's pre-orders available for Jazwares' action figures from the, they don't have pics of the figure based on Brad Pitt's Gerry Lane.  That might be the first Brad Pitt figure in history.  Such an age it is we live in! Soundwave Banner

Two words: "LASERBEAK, EJECT."

In the 1980s, there was no cooler "Transformers" toy than Soundwave, at least in this writer's opinion.  I mean, he was an evil monotone Decepticon filled with evil tape-bots!  And you could buy the tapes and hide them inside him!  How could you possibly get cooler than that?

Here's a roundup of some of the best toy news of the past week!

THE BANKING DEAD!: Entertainment Weekly has a first look at the new "Walking Dead" Rick Grimes bust bank, though what good is money in a world overrun by Walkers?  Perhaps it could be used to contain batteries, or medicine, or something.  Y'know, it never pays to think too much about that series. Superfans and scalpers, start your engines -- Hasbro has enough cool exclusives at San Diego Comic-Con to drain your bank account several times over!

As reported in USA Today, Hasbro has a slew of exclusives planned for this year's SDCC (July 18-21), that fans are going to be making a beeline for once the show opens...and which most of them will not actually be able to get and wind up paying hugely inflated prices for on eBay in the ensuing weeks.

We might be speaking from personal experience.

But here's the best of the best.  Prepare to drool. Read More...

The crucial final phase of the Transformers Fan Built Bot Poll is about to begin (and will run through May 17th) with options for the name, gender, specialty, and origin-- culminating with the figure appearing in the Thrilling 30th Anniversary toy line! So, if you think you're responsible enough to be a parent in this pseudo Cybertronian-commune, then read on for all the info straight from Hasbro!

During Toy Fair 2013, Hasbro unveiled yet another incarnation of their Transformers franchise: Construct-Bots! These figures move beyond just the construction/customization-aspect of their Kre-O brand by incorporating ball-joint articulation and the ability to transform without being disassembled! Bumblebee was one of the first to be shown (of course) thanks to the massive popularity he’s garnered over the last few years, but today MTV Geek is bringing you an exclusive first look at the upcoming Scout Class and Elite Class assortments—including, my favorite Decepticon, Shockwave!

G.I.Joe is my jam. When I was little, I engulfed every issue of Marvel’s comic book series as well as all of Hasbro’s toys. Couple that with the fact I’m an army brat and boom, you have a super fan. I even went to meet Larry Hama as a kid and got him to sign my copy of "G.I.Joe A Real American Hero" number 2. For those who know, that’s a big deal. For those who want to know if I got it authenticated, not yet but I’m gonna. Read More...
