Finally, an action figure has been crafted to help better illustrate just how cutthroat and deadly babysitting can be! Yes indeed, while we would have preferred a fully-articulated Elisabeth Shue (from Adventures in Babysitting. Yes we’re old nostalgic.) we’ll gladly settle for Cable. A year or so ago, Cable was the most hardcore nanny on the planet in Marvel Comics, and now he’s been immortalized in Hasbro’s Marvel Universe line of figures! We lucked out and managed to get this figure at our local comic shop just as the box was opened. Looks like Nathan Summers is one to a case, and now we’re passing our impressions onto those of you that haven’t been fortunate enough to score one, or were on the fence about this particular figure. On with the review!
If you like G.I. Joe reviews, then you’re in luck because we’ve been buying the hell outta them lately. Hasbro has been really bringing their A-team A-game to the table, and today we’re taking a closer look at the Pursuit of Cobra Shadow Tracker figure! Shadow Tracker is like a devilishly inbred mixture of the Predator and Ice-T from Surviving the Game. If you’re not a fan of either of those films, then perhaps some of this guy’s sheer apocalyptic-level badassery will be lost on you. Either way, let’s get into the review!
Shadow Tracker works for Cobra as a wilderness hunter and guide. Scorning conventional firearms, he uses traditional weapons from around the world. He tracks his prey using primal instinct: he hears the dark whispers of the jungle, senses distant footfalls in the earth, and tastes his victim’s fear in the wind. When Skydive lands in the jungle, Shadow Tracker instantly knows – and starts the hunt.
Well, Hasbro has finally done it! They have unintentionally caused a future loss of profits with their G.I. JOE line-- thanks to making the last Snake Eyes figure you’ll ever need! Why would they do this? What kind of genius decided to give the fans exactly what they wanted?! We don’t know; but while the accountants at Hasbro are kicking the s**t out of him, we’re gonna be singing that poor s.o.b.’s praises. Welcome to our action figure review of Hasbro’s G.I. JOE Pursuit of COBRA (POC) Snake Eyes! This is the third version of our favorite silent assassin to hit the line’s short span, and looking upon it has caused many a toy fan to weep with pure, unadulterated joy.
Here’s the short bio that was posted on the back of the blister card. It survived about twenty seconds before we tore into SE’s package like a rabid mongoose… and by that, yes, we mean “with our teeth”.
Snake Eyes is the G.I. JOE team’s ninja commando and martial arts master. As the team fights COBRA forces in the desert, Snake Eyes slips behind enemy lines to blow up COBRA fortifications. He is armed with a pistol, submachine gun, and swords to battle anyone who tries to stop him from reaching his target.
Today, we here at MTV Geek! are bringing you some exclusive Transformers toy images unlike any we’ve had before! Below is a sneak peek at Hasbro’s upcoming Basic Optimus Prime, Basic Bumblebee, and Ratchet Kre-O sets. Kre-O is Hasbro’s foray into the building toy market and will surely score them some of Lego’s sweet, brick-laden cash and what better way to do that than with the Transformers? They seem to be a natural fit thanks to their transforming qualities, and the finished products in both robot and vehicle modes look pretty damn good if we say so ourselves… and we do!
Voting is one of democracy’s greatest facets, and what better way to exercise your right than by casting your ballot for a giant transforming robot?! Hasbro has started the voting for the 2011 Transformers Hall of Fame. Like 2010, both human and characters will be inducted at this year’s BotCon!
There are 4 slots open, and three are already taken by classic Transformers Ironhide, Ratchet, and Soundwave (our personal favorite since the G1 days). The fourth slot is still up for grabs, and you can have your say in the matter. Simply go to http://www.hasbro.com/transformers/en_US/discover/2011-TRANSFORMERS-HALL-OF-FAME-VOTE.cfm and pick your favorite from the list made up of previously-picked fan choices!
Welcome to our review of Loki, the Agardian prince whose penchant for mischief and trickery knows no bounds! Marvel Studio’s Thor movie hits theater (“like a bolt of lightning” for those of you that are just waiting on the pun) on May 6th, and Loki is sure to play a huge part in the film. Tom Hiddleston dons the role of Thor’s adoptive brother, we’re sure he’s going to do a bang up job; but we’re not talking about that right now. Nope, we’re looking at Hasbro’s figure of Loki from their 3 ¾” Thor movie line of figures, and we’ll start things off with the bio from the back of his package:
Though Loki is no coward, he prefers to test his wits against his enemies, rather than the strength of his arms. Coercion and mischief are his tools for victory. Other gods sneer at his avoidance of combat – an attitude they will learn to regret when they finally get a taste of his triple-bladed sword.
On May 6th, Marvel’s Mightiest Avenger makes his thunderous debut in theaters! While Chris Hemsworth plays Thor in the film, Hasbro is making sure that you can get in on the action yourself with their line of movie-inspired Thor action figures and roleplay items. Today, we’re taking a look at Sword Spike Thor from their 3 ¾” line of figures; or as we like to him – Regular Badass Thor! This is the figure’s bio, which is really more about the humongous sword included with the figure:
Thor is the master of nearly every weapon in Asgard’s arsenal. The dwarves created Thor’s Power Sword to allow him to channel his otherworldly abilities and defeat any for that dares to cross his path. The unusual blade hums with divine might as Thor charges the internal spike with the power of his lightning.
Everyone knows, the best kind of robot is one that transforms… unless they’re a Go-Bot! Cy-Kill and his buddies will NEVER compare to the Decepticons! Thankfully, today we’ve got some breaking news of the Transformers-variety from the upcoming 2011 BotCon! Transformers Animated was a great cartoon, but the toys’ ability to mimic the style of the show were what blew us away; and broke our hearts when they were cancelled. Good thing for us that animation isn’t required to continue the Animated look. Just what the hell are we babbling about? Well, at this year’s BotCon, fans have the opportunity to not only read an all new comic book story set in the Animated universe; but, can also purchase a set of exclusive figures based on new characters from the issue – The Stunticons!
We here at MTV Geek! are excited to be bringing you the news about the Stunticon set, along with an EXCLUSIVE piece of preview art from the story that will be appearing in the Transformers: Timelines comic!
Last fall, Hasbro not only launched its very own TV network in The Hub, but also created yet another brand new Transformers animated series called Transformers Prime. Now, there have been a LOT of Transformers incarnations over the past few movies, aside from the movies you've also got Beast Wars, Beast Machines, Armada, Animated and Energon to name just a few, but they will forever and always be compared to the original animated series called Generation One by those in the know. If you're unfamiliar with Prime, it's a CGI series starring a handful of Autobots including Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Arcee who have been hanging out on Earth waiting for Megatron to return, which he does in the initial five episode movie. The series kicks back off on Friday with the first new episodes since December. With that in mind, it's time to once again compare the old with the new and figure out which one takes the transforming robot cake.
The stoic and heroic leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime and his crew wound up on Earth thanks to a failed Energon expedition that had them literally crashing onto the planet in the mid 80s. No matter how many times he and the Autobots went up against his arch enemy Megatron and the Decepticons, he always came out on top, even coming back from near death on occasion. Having taken the vehicle form of a semi-truck, Prime became one of the larger and more imposing Transformers around and a favorite of fans and Autobots alike. Prime rocked a blaster when in battle and could also retract his hand to create a glowing axe.
As you might expect, the Prime version of Prime has a much sleeker look thanks to the evolution of animation and automobile design in the past three decades. He's still a leader that his troops look up to and has vowed to never give up his fight for justice. His look is very similar to the on seen in the two Transformers movies. The new version can also create bladed weapons in his hands much like his earlier counterpart.
This first incarnation of the cunning and ruthless leader of the Decepticons seems to have set the standard for Optimus Prime's archenemy. However, the original vehicle mode for Megatron has been altered over the years. See, the original 'Tron changed into a gun, and not a big giant one, but a handgun that another Decepticon had to hold and fire. It's not a very dignified transformation to be made by such a regal and dangerous character. When in his robot mode he uses the canon on his arm along with one on his back, but like Optimus, he can replace one of his hands with an energy flail. Read More...
She’s conniving, murderous, and will stab you in the back in a heartbeat. She’s the Baroness -- and lucky for her, women in black leather and librarian glasses are irresistibly sexy. This probably explains why she hasn’t been gunned down by the forces of G.I. JOE, or strangled in her sleep by her metal-clad lover, Destro!
In the original G.I. JOE A Real American Hero animated series, her heavily-accented voice was sent across the airwaves into our pre-pubescent earholes by none other than the talented Morgan Lofting. Decades have passed since the cartoon was originally on the TV, but the Baroness has managed to stay an integral part in every incarnation of the franchise from comic books to toys, and even the live-action feature film… but we won’t open THAT can of worms! All that aside, Morgan Lofting will be appearing at this year’s G.I. JoeCon, and now’s your chance to creepily tell her all about that childhood crush you had on her cartoon avatar!
G.I. JoeCon 2011 announces Final SPECIAL Guest, Morgan Lofting, voice of the original Baroness! Read More...
Welcome back to another spine-tingling installment of “What Toys We Just Can’t Get Enough Of”! Well, it’s not quite that enthusiastic of a list, but you get the idea. Today on MTV Geek, we’re taking a look at the Top 3 movie-based toy lines that we had the pleasure of checking out during this year’s Toy Fair! You can probably guess our picks, because judging by the views; they’re your picks as well!
1. The Thunder Rolls
The latest trailer for Thor has boosted our excitement levels to 11 and these toys will help console our impatience as we wait out the May 6th release date of the film! Also, the film’s supporting cast of Asgardian warriors will help boost our Marvel Universe collection, that otherwise might not see some of these guys otherwise.
This year’s American International Toy Fair was an overwhelming spectacle filled with all of our favorite plastic effigies. Now that it’s at an end, we can reflect back on the grandiose action figure showings from our favorite companies – and what better way to do this than through the magic of moving pictures?! Today we’re gonna take a look at 3 videos that top our list of highlights from the show, when it comes to toys based on our favorite comic properties!
1. Todd’s Zombie Fixation
While The Walking Dead action figures were a huge draw for fans of the book, the fact that Todd McFarlane took the time to spearhead his company’s Toy Fair presence was very cool in itself.
2. Straight From a Horseman’s Mouth
While we admit to being partial to Mattel’s DC Universe Classics line of figures, you’ve gotta admit that having Cornboy from the Four Horsemen dish on all the DCUC reveals is pretty f’n cool! Who better to talk about these spandex-clad heroes than one of the men who sculpted them?!
3. Marvel at These… sorry, crappy pun halted.
Everything was on display here, from the massive Sentinel to the miniscule Wasp and Ant Man that come in the Avengers Set. While Marvel Legends doesn’t come back until next year, Hasbro is really making the 3 ¾” size better and better with each release!
Stay tuned to MTV Geek! for all your post-Toy Fair coverage!

Spider-Man is like a force of nature! Like most of Hasbro’s toy brands, Spidey always has a presence on the shelf. This year sees the release of quite a few comic-based versions while we all wait patiently for the new Spider-Man movie set to be released in 2012. While adult collectors might be able to pass on a lot of this (no doubt for other Marvel figures), kids will have an absolute blast! Do you have the burning desire to shape some up and coming child prodigy to the ways of geekdom? Well, look no further than Hasbro’s assortment of Spider-man Web Battlers, which feature action features and non-removable weaponry. That means you’ll never find some web-nunchucks stashed in your toaster. You all know how manacing kids can be! The 3 ¾” figure assortment does have a few collector treasures in the villains department. Scorpion and the Lizard were both present and look very cool. While the 3 ¾” figures are available now, the Web battlers won’t be out until spring… of course, according to the groundhog that should be soon, right?
Hasbro’s biggest showing this year went to the Transformers! With Transformers Prime currently airing on the Hub Channel, and Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon revving up to hit theaters on July 1st there was just no escaping the draw of those shiny, metal alien overlords… errr, protectors. We meant, ”protectors”. The biggest surprise from the show didn’t come from the toys however, because parked outside the Times Center was none other than Optimus Prime himself, complete with trailer!
Granted, it did take an actual Transformer being present to pull away any excitement about the toys which are really a step above what was seen with the previous 2 films. There are two lines of figures: the Mechtech, and Cyberverse assortments and look to be what most collector’s desire from their Autobot and Decepticon toys. The Transformers Prime figures, which MTV Geek has previously reported on, were also present and look even better in person. It’s really amazing just how show accurate they are able to get the figures and still allow for articulation and proper transforming. This is definitely shaping up to be a huge year for Transformers fans, and we are right there with ya! Most of the toys are scheduled to start hitting stores in May, while larger items like the Ultimate Optimus Prime and The Ark playset will be released soon after the film.
Let's first take a look at the Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon Cyberforce sets:
