A whole new generation of fans are about to be introduced to Rocket "Rocky" J. Squirrel and Bullwinkle J. Moose, the lovable forest animals who live in Frostbite Hills, Minnesota.  Announced at C2E2, IDW Publishing, along with DreamWorks Classics and Bullwinkle Studios, have teamed up to bring Jay Ward's classic cartoon characters back to comics. "If you build a product that is exciting and bulletproof," "Wild Blue Yonder" co-creator Zach Howard explains to me during a recent call, "fans will fall in love with it and it’ll be around for, hopefully, a generation or two."

Illustrator Howard and co-creator Austin Harrison hope their high-flying, post-apocalyptic adventure miniseries, which launches in June, resonates with fans across multiple media, beyond the launch of the IDW comic penned by fellow co-creator and writer Mike Raicht. Harrison and Howard have a completed screenplay ready for "Wild Blue Yonder" in the hopes of reaching more than just comics audiences (and you get the impression speaking to them that they'd like to conquer your eyeballs in more than just those ways). They want their tale of sky pirates and adventurers to a new "Indiana Jones," a place where they can hang generation and genre-defining stories.

In a world seized by crime, a fresh-faced rookie sets out to clean up the streets. When he's inevitably strung up by roving gangs of telepathic teens, it's up to young Judge Joseph Dredd to step up. 2000 AD editor Matt Smith is writing "Judge Dredd: Year One: The Long, Hard Road" for IDW this March, accompanied by interior artist Simon Coleby and cover artist Greg Staples.

The story will bring Dredd face-to-face with a mental menace in his first team-up with the Psi-Division. Minds are certain to be blown.
