Caldwell's a longtime "MAD" cartoonist whose work has been featured in "The National Lampoon" and "The New Yorker."

Strolling along the con floor here at New York Comic Con, it's easy to overlook some great displays. Luckily, we didn't miss the two glass cases in the corner of the DC Comics' booth that held custom painted (and sculpted in some cases) Spy vs. Spy action figures from the famed MAD Magazine strip! Reading the name tags next to the toys came with some surprises at not just the talent involved from the toy industry, but also from comic artists, and even celebrities. Yes, fittingly Weird Al Yankovic customized one of the blank figures as did Adventure Time's Pendleton Ward. Below you'll find info on how the project came about, and also a ton of photos!
