Starting with Deadpool #50, writer Daniel Way kicked off his biggest arc yet, DEAD, which finds the Merc With a Mouth to kick the bucket any way he can. And you would think with a title like that, Deadpool wouldn't be making it out alive... And you may be right. All we know is that we got a peek at issue #55, and there may - or may not - be an all new Deadpool under the mask. To find out more, we chatted with a very mysterious Way over e-mail. MTV Geek: Okay, Daniel, this arc is coming out of Deadpool: DEAD, which seems to imply that… Deadpool is NOT dead? OR IS HE??? You’re messing with my mind here, man.
Daniel Way: All I can say is that Wade Wilson, AKA Deadpool left the possibility of a “normal” death behind a very, very long time ago.
Geek: It looks like maybe we’re getting a new Deadpool under the mask; or is it the old Deadpool, with a new look? Feel free to spoil the news here.
DW: No “maybes” about it—this IS a new Deadpool.
Geek: Heck, I’ll just ask, as the cover seems to imply this anyway… The “cure” for Deadpool’s healing factor, that he’s currently searching for as of issue fifty, made Evil Deadpool handsome again, before he died. Is it possible that Deadpool may have misinterpreted exactly what that “cure” does, and what we’re seeing from #55 forward is the new, gorgeous on the outside Wade Wilson?
