marvel-uk-revolutionary-war-crop

In the midst of the San Diego Comic-Con hoopla, Marvel Comics made quite a few announcements about their Autumn publishing slate – and one of the projects that I found most fascinating is the "Revolutionary War" miniseries that brings the characters and concepts of the '90s Marvel UK imprint back into the spotlight.  And despite all the madness and hyperactivity of Comic-Con, Andy Lanning took the time to answer some questions for MTV Geek's readers, and tell us a bit about his hopes and ambitions for the series.

longshot-saves-the-marvel-u-crop

One of the more exciting announcements at Marvel's X-Men panel on Sunday at San Diego Comic-Con was the reveal that revered X-Man Longshot will make a big return this Autumn, in a limited series entitled 'Longshot Saves The Marvel Universe'.  We caught up with the creative team, Christopher Hastings and Jacopo Camagni, and asked a few questions about what we can expect when the series hits stands in November.

age-of-ultron-ant-man

We may not have gotten a "Justice League" reveal during San Diego Comic-Con, but the other much-anticipated super team got an official title and hints at the next phase of the franchise as the second "Marvel's The Avengers" film was revealed as "Age of Ultron," coming to theaters in 2015.

So what's the deal with "Age of Ultron"? Well, for one thing, it's the name of the recently-concluded big summer event at Marvel, which saw a dark future where the titular evil AI enslaved the Earth using a viral infection, forcing the surviving heroes of the Marvel U to repel the cybernetic conqueror*. Does this mean that like "X-Men: Days of Future Past," we'll be getting another dark future Marvel movie? And who are some of the major players from the comics to watch out for?

****Spoilers for the recently-concluded "Age of Ultron" to follow****

age-of-ultron-1-crop

"Age of Ultron" was a recent Marvel event written by Brian Michael Bendis that saw evil robot Ultron wreak havoc on the Marvel Universe from the future. Considering the event just wrapped up, and Ultron didn't seem to be on the table in terms of current Marvel movieverse continuity -- especially because Thanos was teased at the end of the first film -- it was shocking when Joss Whedon took the stage at Marvel Studios' panel to announce that the sequel to "Marvel's The Avengers" will share the "Age of Ultron" titlE. Leaving us to make the conclusion that Ultron will be the movie's villain. But what the heck is an "Age of Ultron"?

XMEN_7_COVER-crop

Aside from sparking some grumbling among male fans who just didn't want to see an X-Men team made up entirely of women, writer Brian Wood's "X-Men" book has been a big success.

Wood could pretty easily sit on his laurels and continue with the status quo, but he and artist Terry Dodson, who's coming onto the title with November's "X-Men" #7 aren't going to be doing that. In that issue, the team will be in a state of flux and facing down a challenge from Lady Deathstrike and her new Sisterhood. We asked Wood about the issue and the changes it'll bring.

We don't know a ton about what's going to be happening in Marvel's "Infinity" event just yet, but one thing we can be sure of is that Bruce Banner is going to come out of it a changed man. That's according to the solicitation for writer Mark Waid and artist Mahmud Asrar's "Indestructible Hulk" #16, coming out in November.

To get a little better idea of just what effect the event will have on Banner and the Hulk -- one thing we do know is that Banner comes out of it looking to build one gigantic bomb -- MTV Geek chatted with Waid and Asrar about what's to come.

Watch: Joe Quesada Talks Angela

During the "Age of Ultron" crossover in pages drawn by Marvel C.O.O. Joe Quesada, Angela -- a character co-created by Todd McFarlane and Neil Gaiman and drawn Greg Capullo for McFarlane's "Spawn" Universe -- suddenly appeared and quickly became a major player in Marvel continuity, joining the Brian Michael Bendis-scripted "Guardians of the Galaxy." But how do the logistics of the character's existence in Marvel work? Is she completely rebooted? is her past in the "Spawn-verse" still relevant? What the hell is she doing in Marvel anyway?

Since Doctor Octopus has taken over Peter Parker's life and his body, he's encountered quite a few of the original Spider-Man's old foes. One he hasn't taken on yet is Venom, but that's all set to change with the start of the "Darkest Hours" storyline in November.

MTV Geek got a few quick moments to chat with "Superior Spider-Man" writer Dan Slott about what's in store for Otto as he faces one of Spider-Man's most dangerous foes and makes some announcements at San Diego Comic-Con.
