Last Friday we showed you Marvel's "Of The Dead" teaser, speculating if it could be another "Marvel Zombies" book.  But Bloody Disgusting unearthed an interview zombie-meister George Romero did with Twitchfilm last year -- and while we have no confirmation, it seems likely "Of The Dead" might have something to do with this unnamed Romero comic. From Twitchfilm:

ROMERO – I am also writing a comic for Marvel. I’m writing it now, but it’s plot is a secret. Read More...

So what's this now?

I may have been a bit meh on my comics last week, but holy cats! This week was a bounty of awesome! I picked up a lot of books this week and lot of them were my favorites. My biggest problem? What to read first.

A lot of my friends read the books they're looking forward to the most last. Kind of like ending on a high note, building anticipation, blah blah blah. I'm a child of the interwebz: I like my gratification instantaneous. Forget anticipation or suspense, I WANT MY COMICS *grabby hands* I know that makes me sound like a spoiled child, but it's really about excitement. I love what I love, and I want to be with it as soon as humanly possible. I don't know, how do you guys read your books?

It's just a black square with the words "Marvel OF THE DEAD" on it -- with the requisite blood splatter -- and the date "Fall 2013." But what can it all possibly MEAN??!!

Well, the most likely guess is: another "Marvel Zombies" book. With "Walking Dead" never more popular than it is today, it would seem like a no-brainer -- or, rather, an eat-brainer -- to keep the Marvel franchise going. Plus: the Robert Kirkman connection!

Wednesday was the first time in a couple weeks that I was back to my regular routine: jumped on the subway after work, walked into my local shop, met my bestie, and then went for our weekly Comics and Beer time. It was a good day. A good Wednesday. But Hera help me, I could NOT get into my comics this week.

I mean, there’s were really solid books out this week. The Ramon Perez issue of Wolverine and the X-Men finally came out and I’d really been looking forward to it. But... I don’t know, call it malaise or ennui or meh-ness. I was half-way through my stack of comics and nothing was really jumping out at me.

And then Nick Fury and Frank Castle broke out of a Vietnamese prison. Read More...

You saw speculation on MTV Splashpage about what villain 'Game of Thrones' Peter Dinklage is playing in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ this morning… But thanks to a tipster who prefers to remain anonymous, but is extremely reliable, we can tentatively confirm: Dinklage is playing Bolivar Trask, inventor of the mutant hunting robot Sentinels in the movie sequel.

Which makes a lot of sense: there’s already been rumors of Sentinels in the movie, which this fits right in with; there are also Sentinels in the dystopian future of the comic book version of Days of Future Past; and most importantly, Dinklage, in this Variety article is called the “main antagonist,” not the villain. Why is that last part important?

For that little bit, we’ve got to go into who Bolivar Trask is in the comics: Read More...
