As much as we love Mattel's "Masters of the Universe Classics" figures...we're pretty sure the Comet Warriors were the last figures from the original line anyone expected to get a Classics re-do, let alone as the high-profile San Diego Comic-Con exclusive figures for this year.

The news out of Toy Fair that Mattel's MattyCollector brand will be putting out an action figure line based on the 1960s "Batman" TV show made the hearts of geeks everywhere leap in technicolor joy. MTV Geek was granted exclusive access to get an advance peek at Mattel and the Four Horsemen's long-anticipated Masters of the Universe Classics Castle Grayskull before it was revealed at Toy Fair.
The respected designers took us into their lair of everything that is awesome in the action figure world to show us how an intense undertaking like the development of He-Man's Castle Grayskull comes together.

Just in time for Toy Fair, MTV Geek has an intriguing reveal from Mattel's "Man of Steel" Movie Masters collection: General Zod's companion Faora!
Earlier, we showed you the other figures in the "Man of Steel" line. Now we see the lovely Faora, played by Antje Traue ("Pandorum") in the Superman film.
This is our first full-on look at the baddie who's certain to make Superman's life a living hell along with Michael Shannon's Zod in Zack Snyder's upcoming film. Our pals over at MTV Splash Page have done some speculating about whether we may have caught of glimpse of Faora in that very awesome trailer from a few months back.

Everybody knows She-Ra as the female counterpart to beloved 1980s icon He-Man -- but according to DC Comics writer Mike Costa, you don't really know She-Ra. The sword-wielding heroine's origin is headed for a "dramatic retelling" in a self-named digital one-shot, according to CNN.
Some might be surprised to learn that She-Ra -- a.k.a. Princess Adora -- started out as basically an agent/assassin for the evil Hordak. It's those darker early years of the character's life that the comic will focus on. Read More...

I'll be the first to admit that the 1980's animated "He-Man & the Masters of the Universe" veered into the realm of camp craziness more often than not and the vintage toy line upped the ante at every turn! As more and more action figures were released and sold, the need for variations on He-man and Skeletor continued to grow and one fateful day Dragon Blaster Skeletor was born unto this Earth in a fusing of water-spraying plastic unlike anything that came before! His bright colors and self-injurious concept (Having a dragon chained to your back is just simply a bad idea!) quickly gained favor with my young heart and he was immediately my go-to Skeletor during my childhood years. Now, Mattel has released an updated version in their Matty Collector-exclusive Masters of the Universe Classics line and I've finally found the time to properly review the one they sent. The Mattel booth is once again stocked with piles of plastic awesome at New York Comic Con 2012, and more than a few glass shelves have been taken over by Batman-- plus a few of his allies and members of his rogues gallery. The variant suit-heavy Batman line is looking to continue strong with additions like Bane, the Joker (who has been hitting the gym), and a number of Batman figures with all manner of weapons attached. The Batman Unlimited line was also present for the first time since their announcement with the highlight for me being the "The Dark Knight Returns" version of Bruce that is compatible with Mattel's other collector-oriented line, Masters of the Universe Classics. Last weekend, a huge box was sitting patiently outside my front door as I arrived home. The markings on the outside labeled it clearly as coming from Mattel, but instead of the usual Masters of the Universe Classics or Dark Knight Rises fare, it was from a brand I don't normally cover here on Geek: Hot Wheels! Inside wasn't the track set or small die cast cars I was expecting, not by a long shot. Instead, staring out at me, and my incredibly excited 4 year-old son, was the new Terrain Twister! Naturally, I charged up the included battery for a few hours and we made our way out into the wilds to put this thing to the test! Come along as I get muddy and take a closer look at the Hot Wheels' R/C Terrain Twister!
