That one-of-a-kind R2D2 guitar we stumbled across a few weeks ago was extremely cool, but like may things we find so impressive it wasn't for sale. However, the awesome Mario guitar you see above is for sale and we're already looking for excuses to get one of our own.

Over the past few years Old Spice has had one of the most entertaining ad campaigns across television and the web. Big names such as Neil Patrick Harris, Bruce Campbell and even Heather Graham have appeared in commercials and viral ads for the “manly” hygiene brand. As many of you already know the current Old Spice Man is Terry Crews and his latest interactive ad, "Old Spice Muscle Music," is one of the most creative we've ever seen.

We've heard the Angry Birds theme covered on electric guitar and seen a band of robots perform Marilyn Manson's "The Beautiful People", but this rendition of the Ghostbusters theme song takes the cake. This is what it sounds like when the Nashville ensemble bring their own spin to the Adult Swim series' theme song. They're the latest act to provide music for the southern-fried cartoon's opening behind bands Soilent Green and Band of Horses.

This may not be the first themed guitar we've ever seen, but by god it is awesome. Clearly modeled after the galaxy's favorite astromech droid, R2D2, this geek rock masterpiece is the product of some long, dedicated hours by a fellow known simply as Doug. Read More...

On the Friday night of San Diego Comic-Con, while some con attendees were hunting up grub and others still hitting up some of the many parties in the many hotels dotting the bay, I was heading to the USS Midway, a museum aircraft carrier about a mile from the convention center. My short trek in the waning daylight hours was in the hopes of seeing the world's biggest (animated) metal band in an Adult Swim-hosted show.

And that night, I and an intimate audience of a couple of hundred of Dethklok fans were rewarded with the thundering drums of Fear Factory's Gene Hoglan, Bryan Beller on Bass, and the brutal, throbbing guitars Mike Keneally and frontman/vocalist Brendon Small as the cartoon/live act just murdered our ears in advance of their nationwide tour.

Hit the jump so I can tell you precisely how a cartoon band performs in concert (not so much Gorrillaz, if you're wondering), and check out some photos I snapped during the show.

Composer Jesper Kyd has an lengthy list of credits that includes games, film, and television. This BAFTA winner (he picked up a trophy for his Hitman score for IO Interactive), is also an MTV VMA nominee who is responsible for the soundtracks of the previous Assassin's Creed titles for Ubisoft, along with Vigil Games' August release of Darksiders II.

Kyd recently worked in television a bit by composing the music for the upcoming live-action Heavy Metal series, Metal Hurlant Chronicles, directed by Guillaume Lubrano. The series follows the format of the long-running comic series, operating as an anthology with a mix of sci-fi and fantasy stories told in 26-minute episodes.

We recently spoke to Kyd by e-mail about his work with the series as well as his history of video game music composition and the winding road that got him into the composing business.

MTV Geek: When you were first offered the Metal Hurlant gig, what was your first thought? How familiar were you with the comics?

Jesper Kyd: I’ve worked with the director Guillaume Lubrano on his previous projects and I’m a huge fan of Heavy Metal magazine which I grew up with as a kid and still like to read. The stories are really out there and very original, intelligent and well-crafted. The art of Moebius (he is my favorite comic book artist) goes so much beyond what people expect from comics. He has a style that is entirely unique and I think he set the bar as far as quality. I love how he mixed aspects from spirituality to morality, subtle hints of real world central themes. I think it gives his stories a lasting appeal. Guillaume’s vision for adapting these stories is to treat each episode like a mini movie.
