After a relatively slow period for DC’s boutique arm Vertigo, the imprint had some big announcements at New York Comic Con, as well as more talk about some of their upcoming projects. On the panel were writers Bill Willingham (Fables), Jeff Lemire (Sweet Tooth), Brian Azzarello (Spaceman), and Scott Snyder (American Vampire), artists R.M. Guera (Scalped, Django Unchained) and Ryan Kelley (Saucer Country), all moderated by Executive Editor Karen Berger. Read More...

Announced at the New York Comic Con Diamond Retailer Breakfast (which, despite what you may think, is not a breakfast at which retailers eat diamonds), popular Podcasters Ben Blacker and Ben Acker will be taking on Marvel's toughest mutant with the brand new OGN Wolverine: Season One. We chatted with the duo and Salvador Espin about delving once again into the origin of Wolverine, and even got a bonus sketch from Espin: Read More...

The Mattel booth is once again stocked with piles of plastic awesome at New York Comic Con 2012, and more than a few glass shelves have been taken over by Batman-- plus a few of his allies and members of his rogues gallery. The variant suit-heavy Batman line is looking to continue strong with additions like Bane, the Joker (who has been hitting the gym), and a number of Batman figures with all manner of weapons attached. The Batman Unlimited line was also present for the first time since their announcement with the highlight for me being the "The Dark Knight Returns" version of Bruce that is compatible with Mattel's other collector-oriented line, Masters of the Universe Classics. You wanna see all of these various vigilantes and master criminals at NYCC 2012? Then read on!

As just announced at Vertigo's New York Comic Con panel, Jeff Lemire is back! Okay, fine, he never left... But as the writer/artist is finishing up his run on the critically acclaimed Sweet Tooth, he's getting ready to launch a new, twelve part mini-series from Vertigo in 2013. The book - 'Trillium' - defies our simple description, so here's the logline from Vertigo: Read More...

As promised on Thursday, we had one more little surprise from writer Scott Snyder after chatting Batman and Superman: As just announced at New York Comic Con, the prolific creator is launching a brand new miniseries through Vertigo with artist Sean Murphy titled “The Wake.” Read More...

As it was set on the other side of New York Comic Con, by the time we--and the entirety of Marvel’s panelists--had made it to the  All-New X-Men panel, the room was already packed with fans excited to hear what was coming up for Marvel’s Merry Mutants during Marvel NOW! Read More...

As announced yesterday at New York Comic Con, Grant Morrison will be launching a brand new mini-series through Legendary Comics in 2013 titled ‘Annihilator.’ The short pitch? It’s about a screenwriter named Ray Spass, who has four days to complete a screenplay, or the world will be destroyed. Since it’s Morrison, though, he also has a tumor who talks to him, and it all takes place in a black hole. Or something. Read More...

Hot on the heels of Hasbro's teaser, during their pre-New York Comic-Con 2012 party, the entire G.I. Joe Kre-O line was shown off in all its brick-based glory. Duke, Cobra Commander, the Trouble Bubble, Wild Bill, and tons of Arashikage ninjas were present and accounted for and I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the sets looked. I'm not sure how many I'll be picking up, but I will instantly pick up the Checkpoint Alpha set cause I gotta have Firefly! Still not a lot of info on the sets, but the pictures sort of speak for themselves. There will also be blind-bagged Kreons, like the current Transformers line, so hopefully Zartan, Destro, Dr. Mindbender and the rest of my beloved Cobra forces will ake an appearance there.

Announced yesterday at the Diamond Retailers Breakfast, next year Deadpool isn't going to just kill the Marvel Universe... He's going after your favorite literary icons, too. From writer Cullen Bunn comes a four issue mini-series titled DEADPOOL KILLUSTRATED, which takes the Merc With a Mouth through the pages of Moby Dick, Sherlock Holmes, Little Women, and Dracula to wreck bloody vengeance. Here's the latest from New York Comic-Con: Read More...

New York Comic Con 2012 opened up for the afternoon on Thursday and one of the first places I hit was the DC Collectibles booth. While there were some great products on display, one giant bat-themed hunk of polystone stood out among the rest like a Batman riding a horse-- cause it actually WAS Batman riding an f'n horse! "The Dark Knight Rises" will forever remain one of my favorite comics of all time and the love it's been getting lately, thanks in no small part to the release of the incredible animated film from WB animation, is a dream come true. This statue embodies the scene later in the mini-series as Bruce leads his army of Bat-lovin' hooligans against the criminals of Gotham City. The sculpt reeks of Frank Miller's line work while adding realistic texturing to the horse, saddle, and batsuit. Read on for a bunch of images I snapped when not wiping the drool from my mouth and fogging up the glass display case!

Kicking off the first official day of New York Comic Con, Marvel welcomed fans to their “House of Ideas” panel, which shouldn’t be confused with the “House of I.D.s” panel being held next door. It’s only 11am and we’re punchy, please excuse the terrible jokes. Read More...

Yesterday, we chatted with writer Scott Snyder about bringing The Joker back to Batman, but the bigger news was saved for the first official day of New York Comic Con: as just announced, Snyder, along with artist Jim Lee will be launching a new Superman title in 2013. Yup, the guy best know for American Vampires, Black Mirrors, and a Joker with his face hanging off is taking on the symbol of truth, justice, and the American Way. Read More...
