Here's a roundup of some of the best toy news of the past week!

THE BANKING DEAD!: Entertainment Weekly has a first look at the new "Walking Dead" Rick Grimes bust bank, though what good is money in a world overrun by Walkers?  Perhaps it could be used to contain batteries, or medicine, or something.  Y'know, it never pays to think too much about that series. Shazam! Mattel's subscription service Matty Collector has revealed among its exclusives for San Diego Comic-Con an exclusive action figure based on the original Captain Marvel...uh, we mean "Shazam." Sorry, Billy Batson is not included.

Based on the version of the character that's appeared as a back-up feature in Justice League by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank, the figure's part of Mattel's "Club Infinite Earths" series and can stand alongside DC Universe Classics or the DC Signature Collection figures to battle evil!

Here's some of the pics from Matty Collector's website: Read More...

Salutations friends. We just got back from Denver Comic Con and boy are my eyes dry. Damn Denver, is there any moisture or is just on those mountain thingys, wossname, look like big rocks? Whatever.

Denver Con was a rip roaring time. The Geek team did our geek thing, getting magnificent interviews, fun geek footage, and we learned some things. One, Felicia Day is the greatest (we knew that but she proved it again), J. August Richards couldn’t be more tight lipped about who he’s playing in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D (not to say we didn’t try), and we all want to be best friends with Phil Lamarr (I mean, who doesn’t?) Superfans and scalpers, start your engines -- Hasbro has enough cool exclusives at San Diego Comic-Con to drain your bank account several times over!

As reported in USA Today, Hasbro has a slew of exclusives planned for this year's SDCC (July 18-21), that fans are going to be making a beeline for once the show opens...and which most of them will not actually be able to get and wind up paying hugely inflated prices for on eBay in the ensuing weeks.

We might be speaking from personal experience.

But here's the best of the best.  Prepare to drool. Read More...

How many of you were able to attend Comic-Con in 2008? There’s an interesting story that came out of that particular convention. Well, there’s interesting stories that come out from just about every Comic-Con. Quite a number of them from each, in fact. But there’s one from 2008 that’s especially interesting for us here in our discussion of fandom.

Let me set the stage for you. After hosting a few different venues, Comic-Con first started using the San Diego Convention Center back in 1991. Attendance that year was around 15,000 -- needless to say, they didn’t take up all the space themselves! But with more space available at the Convention Center, the show was able to expand over the years and attendance broke 50,000 for the first time in 2001. The show kept expanding and, by 2004, they were officially taking up the whole Convention Center in its entirety. Fire codes meant that attendance was effectively maxed out for that facility starting in 2006, and the show has had a pretty consistent number of people attending since every year since then. The Walking Dead pretty much owned San Diego Comic-Con this year, with the 100th issue breaking sales records, a live zombie maze in PetCo Park, and of course, the TV show everywhere. Plus, this was the world's first chance to meet the physical embodiment of the diabolical Governor, the worst villain the comic book version has ever seen (well, until the hundredth issue at least).

MTV News sat down with the guy playing the part - David Morrissey - as well as Laurie Holden, who plays Andrea, and show runner Glen Mazzara to find out what it's like to channel ultimate evil. Turns out? It's being dead sexy, at least according to Holden:

After the sneak screening of the new Marvel short Item 47 at San Diego Comic-Con, MTV News' Josh Wigler caught up with Marvel Co-President Louis D’Esposito to talk about all things Marvel "Phase 2." Though this was in advance of the big Hall H panel the next day, so he was mum on specific details, the MTV News team did find out the man's position

One name you know very well: Steven Moffat, executive producer and head writer for Doctor Who. The other, not so much: Caroline Skinner, former producer of The Fades, is now in charge of Doctor Who, as well. We chatted with both of them before their big Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con, and though they were light on spoilers, they were still happy to talk all things Who.

We started off running down the episode order, confirming that the first episode, is, in fact, the Dalek heavy scare-a-thon we’ve been promised. “You’ll see more Daleks than you’ve ever seen before, and you’ll see more different types of Daleks than you’ve ever seen before,” said Moffat - and it’s interesting to note that he didn’t just say “all the Daleks,” but that we’ll potentially be seeing new ones, as well. Though the Ponds may be moving on, the Doctor is staying the same - and thankfully, because Matt Smith is as much the Timelord on screen as he is in real life (minus the two hearts and immortality, of course). We chatted with the charming actor before he hit the big stage in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con about the upcoming season, and more.
