Jeff Parker has taken the past few years to redefine Marvel Comics' Red Hulk... And now he's going to do the same thing with another Hulk, as the title changes into Red She-Hulk with issue #58. Formerly Betty Ross, Red She-Hulk has shown up in a few titles, including Hulk itself - but this is her first time anchoring a book solo. We chatted EXCLUSIVELY with Parker before the announcement at SDCC 2012 about all this, what's going to happen to General Ross, and what makes his take on Betty unique:

MTV Geek: Well, looks like old Rulkie doesn’t get out of “Mayan Rule” unscathed, huh? What can you tell us about Thunderbolt’s fate when Red She-Hulk #58 kicks off?

Jeff Parker: Alex, Red Hulk has to go all the way out of Hulk because his expertise is required in another place. And I think if I tell you that, I'll get smashed. I bet it announces any minute now! Read More...

I’m sitting in the Cryptozoic Store at SDCC 2012 before hours, sipping coffee and listening to the designer of the company's brand new DC Comics based card game, and I hear Yvette from Game of Thrones whispering in my ear: “You know nothing, Alex Zalben.”

One of the joys of Comic-Con is that there’s something for every single section of fandom. Like Cosplay? There’s a LOT of Cosplay. Love video games? You can preview the latest and greatest. Movie fan? Go home, you can’t get into Hall H. And one of the more unique fandoms is, of course, tabletop gaming. From card games, to board games, and beyond, there’s a ton of excellent geeky properties to play, and it seems like most of the best games are made by Cryptozoic. Read More...

If there’s one thing every Whovian dreams of, it’s the chance to pilot the TARDIS. If there’s two things? Well, “Working Sonic Screwdriver” would probably rate pretty high on that list. So when we heard we’d have the chance to demo one this morning at BBC America’s booth at San Diego Comic-Con, we dropped our fish sticks and custard, and whooped a happy “Geronimo!”

Now, before you get TOO excited, this isn’t the all purpose tool sported by the Doctor, but it is a brilliant recreation, and a rather incredible gesture based Universal Remote. Thanks to the good folks at Think Geek, and The Wand Company, we got a hands on with the unit (which won’t be on sale until August 31st), as well as a rundown on how it works. So here’s the gist of it:

The first official day of SDCC 2012, and the first big panel bringing together all of DC Comic’s huge talent might have lacked the free Court of Owl masks given away at the Publisher’s Batman panel, but it did have some fun surprises nonetheless. First though, there were some digs about another Publisher, as this panel was called "DC NOW!" and there's a certain "Marvel NOW!" that has also been recently announced. Jokes out of the way, on the panel were writers Geoff Johns, Jimmy Palmiotti, Scott Snyder, Scott Lobdell, as well as writer Brian Buccellato, writer/artists Rob Liefeld, and Amanda Conner, and Editor Bobbie Chase, and EIC Bob Harras.

As usual with DC's panels, they started off running down everything the panelists have been doing, starting with the news that Geoff Johns' Batman: Earth One will be a New York Times #1 Bestseller next week. Johns also mentioned that after finishing his origin in Justice League #0, Shazam will be joining the team in Year Two. Read More...

Not to be confused with MTV's House of Style, Marvel's House of Ideas panel at SDCC 2012 focused squarely on the Publisher's digital initiatives. With Marvel AR stepping up in the wake of their recent Marvel NOW! announcement, and the ReEvolution on for real, San Diego welcomed CCO Joe Quesada to the stage, as well as Agent M himself, Ryan Penagos, Communications Manager Arune Singh, Senior VP of Sales David Gabriel, SVP and GM of Digital Media Peter Phillips, Editor Nick Lowe, and EIC Axel Alonso.

Things kicked off talking about how all their print books are moving towards having free digital codes. Commenting on the movie, Gabriel said, "We wanted to make sure the print books had extra added value, plus it made sure people who buy digital would have an incentive to buy print." Read More...

For the first time ever, in 2013, Sonic The Hedgehog is going to smack right into Mega Man, spilling rings everywhere. Archie Comics will be launching an epic, twelve part crossover running through Mega Man, Sonic, and Sonic Universe, written by Ian Flynn, and edited by Paul Kaminski that will include, well... Everybody. To find out more, we chatted with the duo about the upcoming event, what it takes to bring two universes together, and whether Dr. Wily and Dr. Eggman went to evil medical school together:

MTV Geek: Big question of course is, how do the Sonic Universe and Mega Man Universe come together?

IAN FLYNN: I don’t want to spoil the surprise, but I will point out both Sonic and Mega Man have to deal with brilliant (if mad) scientists.  Dr. Eggman has a history of messing with stuff like ancient gods and Chaos Emeralds.  Dr. Wily has tampered with the time stream.  Between the two of them, they could cause some shenanigans.

In the world of toys it's pretty much agreed that G.I. Joe and Transformers are two brands that not only stand the test of time, but also have some nice releases regularly hitting shelves-- regardless of the various incarnations. Well, like last year, Hasbro is combining their two flagship-franchises for a brand-new exclusive set at the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con international! This time, fans get a shot at picking up a Cobra H.I.S.S. Tank that features a deco and extra pieces to give it the appearance of every Trans-Fan's favorite cyclopian, purple, laser-pistol: Shockwave! While the previous Starscream and Cobra Commander set was fantastic, this year's goes one step further in delivering even more of a "story" by adding extra accessories like Energon cubes, a briefcase full of cash, a Constructicon-colored B.A.T., and even a tiny Soundwave! Read on as we review this SDCC-Exclusive set to see if it more than meets our eyes! (Yes, that WAS horrible.)

It's almost time for the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con International, and that means two things: lots of con-exclusive toys and empty wallets! We've broken this year's offerings up by category, and this list focuses solely on action figures-- our one, true love! While last year's highlights went mostly to giant toy-baron Mattel, thanks to figures like Queen Marlena, Stay Puft, and Swamp Thing, this year they only clock in with one entry on the list. Who has swooped in to claim their other spots in our Top Ten, and in our checking account? You'll just have to read on to find out now that all of the companies attending SDCC have FINALLY revealed their exclusives!-- we think.

10. Comic-Con Explosion Godzilla (S.H. MonsterArts)

The King of the Monsters shows up at SDCC with this figure from the incredible S.H. MonsterArts line. The figure is highly articulated, intricately sculpted, and with the translucent orange color-scheme, just the right amount of different to be a great exclusive. Plus, Godzilla's packaging features artwork of him decimating the San Diego Convention Center as our fellow geeks run in terror!

Available at the BlueFin booth #3545, 3547, 3549, 3644, 3646, 3648 Read More...

As we exclusively revealed on Friday, My Chemical Romace’s Gerard Way will be moderating the Aquabats Super-Show panel at San Diego Comic-Con this year… But how the heck do these two musical super-powered folks even know each other? And does this collaboration mean the utter destruction of SDCC is imminent? To find out more about this, we chatted with the Aquabats’ leader Christian Jacobs, a.k.a. MC Bat Commander, who was deep in convention planning.

“Gerard and I met on the set of Yo Gabba Gabba!, actually,” said Jacobs. “He’s been talking about Gabba for a while, and finally we had MCR on the show this past year. While we were going over the creative ideas for their performance, we hit it off! We became friends in nerdity!” Read More...

When does San Diego Comic-Con start again? Not until Wednesday? Well, you wouldn’t know it from this first announcement from Archie Comics, as the Riverdale-centric Publisher threw the gauntlet down early by announcing a brand new crossover: ARCHIE MEETS GLEE. The new series, written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa with art by Dan Parent won’t launch until 2013, but we got the scoop on it from Archie Co-CEO Jon Goldwater for you right now. And hey, you didn’t even have to wait for Comic-Con:

MTV Geek: Most basic question, just to start off... How did this crossover come about?

Jon Goldwater: Over the last couple of years, I’ve become friendly with Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who is one of the writers on Glee. He’s the guy they brought in to fix Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, he rewrote that whole script. He’s a tremendous Archie fan... He just bleeds Archie orange. He’s such a fan that this past Halloween, he told me he went to his Halloween party dressed as Archie. Read More...
