MTV Geek has learned exclusively that "My Chemical Romance" lead vocalist Gerard Way will be moderating "The Aquabats! Super Show!" panel at this year's San Diego Comic Con for The Hub TV Network. Way is no stranger to comic books, having created and authored the Eisner-winning "Umbrella Academy" graphic novel series from Dark Horse (and recently optioned by Universal).

At some point, you're going to get tired of the non-stop panels, signings, and grind of the Con floor, and want to escape San Diego Comic-Con for something quieter, calmer, and... Who are we kidding? There's NO escaping SDCC this year, as the convention has grown to encompass all of San Diego. From roaming hordes of zombies, non-stop parties, to pop-up stores, here's ten things to do outside of San Diego Comic-Con... That aren't really outside of San Diego Comic-Con:
1. Adventure Time!
The All-Ages cartoon and comic book takes over Comic-Con... Or more specifically, they’re taking over the New Children’s Museum of San Diego at 200 West Island Avenue from July 11-July 15 to celebrate everything from the Land of Ooo. This includes an AT themed art exhibit, and a chance to unlock special prizes in the Keyper Seeker experience. Sounds cool, but last year they held a parade, so this has a lot to top. Read More...

If there is an award for creating the biggest exclusive toy for the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con International, then Hasbro has won it hands down with their Marvel Universe S.H.I.E.L.D. Super Heli-Carrier! What better way to wind down from a day of patriotic barbeques and fireworks than by reading a review for Nick Fury's stamp on American militarist ingenuity?! Join us as we take a look at the Super Heli-Carrier and see if it's worth taking the space normally occupied by our coffee table!
Oh, and as you can see above, we tossed it in a lake for good measure field testing! It floats!

Sure, movies have taken a back-seat at this year’s Comic-Con, and TV is ascendant; but that doesn’t mean actual comic books will lose focus... Particularly with the triple-hit of DC’s still hot New 52, the just announced Marvel NOW! initiative, and the massive take-over of Image’s Walking Dead. No need to shamble around like a zombie - sorry, Walker - this year, looking for the next hot comic book panel, though: we’ve got your complete schedule right here:

Part of the joy of SDCC is staying AWAY from Hall H and Ballroom 20 -ad instead, sneaking into the back of an air conditioned room for a little bit, and finding out about something you never even thought of before... And then falling in love with it. Or not! Either way, it’s the corners of Comic-Con that are often the most fun. Here’s a rundown of some of the weirdest and most interesting panels that caught our eye when scanning the full schedule:

10:00-11:00 The Witty Women of Steampunk— The Victorian era was one marked by constraints on behavior, morals and bosoms. When you add a bit of sci-fi to the mix, however, those corset laces begin to loosen. The steampunk genre has allowed a new wave of female creators and personalities to explore how liberating, sexy, and adventurous the age of steam can be. From a brief look at the San Diego Comic-Con schedule - and the fact that our first crack at this narrowed down the number of panels to a lean thirty-seven - this year is the year of television. From TV taking over the massive Hall H, to some significant anniversaries for the King of Comic-Con, Mr. Joss Whedon, you’d need five DVRs just to fit all the awesome content coming your way in one packed weekend. Luckily, we managed to distill the list down to the hottest, biggest panels you’ll want to check out each day of Comic-Con. Consider this your official TV schedule for 2012:
Wednesday
Luckily, there’s only one thing on Wednesday, but it’s a doozy: screenings of several highly anticipated geek TV pilots, and also, 666 Park Avenue:
6:00-9:45 Special Sneak Peek Pilot Screenings— Comic-Con and Warner Bros. Television proudly continue their annual Preview Night tradition, with exclusive world premiere screenings of the pilot episodes of five of the most highly anticipated TV series pilots of the 2012–13 television season: 666 Park Avenue, Arrow, The Following, Revolution and Cult.

The Golden Domo Bobblehead will be gracing San Diego Comic-Con this year from Mezco, along with his creator, animator Tsuneo Goda. Goda will be at the Dark Horse booth, #2615 Friday, July 13th at 3pm and Saturday, July 14th at 11am signing items for fans.

It has begun! As the flood of con-exclusives have been/are being announced from almost all of the fan-favorite companies, we're bringing you our first review of some toys only available at the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con International: the black & white versions of Batman and Joker from Square Enix' Play Arts Kai line! Both of these figures are monochrome counterparts to the previously released versions based on the incredibly popular Batman: Arkham Asylum video game that stole a week or so of our life when it was released. We only got to borrow these two arch-enemies for a few days, but are they going to be worth our hard-earned cash when we make it to SDCC? Read on to find out!
As we've already reviewed the original version of Batman here, this look is going to be more pic-heavy (since we both know that's what you really came for)-- and Joker-centric!

At the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con International, Hasbro is bringing along a ton of highly-anticipated convention exclusive toys. Their Transformers brand, in particular, sees a lot of love with limited edition figures based on video games, animation, and even a comic book-style crossover with another Hasbro mainstay: G.I. Joe! The G.I. Joe crossover toy has apparently become an annual event after last year's incredible Starscream/Skystriker combo.
