The Super Star Destroyer is probably one of my favorite ships from the original Star Wars trilogy. Darth Vader’s custom cruiser is absolutely massive and I’ll never forget the first time I saw it on screen. LEGO decided they really like it too and it will be one of their largest and most expensive sets ever.

The Super Star Destroyer (Executor Class) set will hit LEGO’s online store and retail stores in September and will cost a staggering $400! This massive build will demand over 3,000 bricks and the finished product will stretch to about 50” long. Read More...

The long-awaited dream of having a live-action Star Wars TV show seems to be on its way of becoming a reality, with the name of the writer of the show being revealed, as well as a possible shooting location.

Den of Geek is reporting that British writer Matthew Graham (Life On Mars, Doctor Who) is one of the writers recruited to work on the Star Wars TV show:

We got in touch with Matthew Graham and asked him whether the news was true. All he would say to us was that he had done some work out at LucasFilm during 2008 and 2009 "on something unbelievably cool", and that his contract "had come to an end". "I hope one day I'll be able to talk about it," he told us.

Hello friends!! Well guess what I did last weekend? I flew home to Los Angeles and took my mom, sister and friend Gemma to Star Wars In Concert at the Hollywood Bowl!!! A dear friend of mine, who wishes to be referred to as "Han" scored me FOUR VIP box seats to this spectacular galactic event! Was the Force with me or what??? Now I cannot tell a lie -- this wasn't my first time seeing SWIC! My friend Stefanie and I went 2 years ago out in Long Island. I had no idea what to really expect and we were both blown away, sometimes with tears of joy streaming our faces!! No, I'm serious, it wasn't just the sour tarts!!! Read More...

The Imperial AT-AT Walker is one the most memorable vehicles from the Star Wars universe. The four-legged tanks may have been the brainchild of George Lucas and his team of designers, but it seems GE and the US military had a functional walker of their own -- years before we saw them in Empire Strikes Back.

Dubbed the Cybernetic Anthropomorphous Machine, or CAM, this rickety “walking truck” was driven by a single human with a hydraulics system powering the legs. Sadly, the project was ultimately scrapped. Drivers had to move each leg individually to get this thing chuggin’ and the constant lever-pulling and decision making made it a mentally strenuous activity -- after 15 minutes they had to take a break. They may seem a little shady when you consider they pick up random droids and sell them in what is pretty much a robot slave trade but, we love the Jawas in Star Wars. They're so awesome we just can’t stay mad at them. As you can see in these photos, Marshal Banana has quite a soft spot for Jawas too.

With the help of over 10,000 Lego bricks, he spent 9 months assembling this Jawa Sandcrawler ignoring not one single detail. The Sandcrawler is to-scale with the Lego mini-figs and the front hatch is motorized, lowering itself down at the push of a button. There’s even a motorized crane and conveyor belt able to lift stray droids into the belly of this beast.

Functioning lights, a completely finished interior and it’s ability to drive around and turn via remote controls make this one of the most complete (not to mention awesome) Star Wars Lego creations we’ve ever seen. Check out the video below to get a better look and see this labor of geek love in action.

It’s Memorial Day! Hopefully you planned ahead this year to ensure it’s the geekiest of occasions. We spent some time cruising around the web for inspiration and ended up finding some awesome geek BBQ gear. A Slave Leia apron and R2D2 smoker are some of the more hardcore creations, head past the break to see how your gear stacks up. Read More...

Grand Moff Tarkin  is one of those mysterious Star Wars villains. We never really find out where he came from and he always seems to know something we don’t. Let’s be honest, the guy’s a little creepy and an artist named Jordu Schell recently took that creepiness to whole knew level when he created this incredibly realistic Grand Moff Tarkin bust. Head past the break for more info and photos!

The bust is life-size and I swear to god it looks like an exact replica of the late Peter Cushing (whose birthday is today). Everything from the wrinkles on his face to the color of his eyes looks spot-on and extremely real. Honestly, when we first stumbled upon this I thought the close-up was a photograph of the man, not the bust! Read More...

Well, hello there Star Wars fans!! Yesterday in NYC was a beautiful day -- the sun was shining, i got sushi delivered for lunch, and I was full of excitement to go see Jimmy Fallon's book signing at Barnes and Noble for his new book Thank You Notes. And then, as if it couldn't get any better, I suddenly realized it was May 25th -- the 34th anniversary of the release of Star Wars!!! The day, if you were alive then, that changed the rest of our lives!!

First off, here's a gratuitous photo of Jimmy Fallon, mostly because he's SOFA KING HOT!!!

So yes, UHEM, I was alive when Star Wars first blasted in to our galaxy. I was 8, I was into The Bionic Woman, Wonder Woman, and dragged my best friend Holly Hobbie with me everywhere. Mom and Dad had already seen Star Wars and raved about it. I wasn't sold. I wasn't quite a sci-fi fan, I still watched Saturday morning cartoons, and quite frankly, Star Wars sounded too much like a grown up film -- aka BORING.

I remember Dad driving us by the Mann's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood where Star Wars premiered. There were busloads of people, crowds, lines, it was crazy!

So a couple of months later when the hype of Star Wars had finally started to dwindle, my dad took my sister and me to Ventura, just north of Los Angeles. It was one of the only towns still playing Star Wars in the LA area. I vaguely remember going kicking and screaming most of the way, my dad telling us over and over how much we'd love it.

Though I’ve never participated, the Soapbox Derby has always fascinated me. The idea of building your own gravity powered car always seemed like it would be a good time and a fellow known as The Papier Boy on Instructables just got all Rebel Alliance with his design. Head past the break for more details and images!

Yep, that’s a frikin’ X-Wing Fighter Soapbox Derby car complete with a spinning, beeping R2D2 co-pilot! What makes this so incredible (other than the fact that it’s an X-Wing!) is the budget. The Papier Boy claims all the components to put this mean machine together only cost $75! Obviously, the iPod that provides R2’s “voice” isn’t included in that figure, but who cares? This thing would be awesome even if it didn’t make noise.

Happy Friday all you Star Wars Fans!! So even though it's a gloomy day in NYC, it's always sunny in Star Wars Land! First off, today is the reopening of Star Tours at Disney Hollywood Studios, HOLLA!!! I'm watching the live stream of the reopening with our pal GWL right now!!!

Ashley Eckstein, the voice of Oshaka in The Clone Wars and the brains behind Her Universe, will be premiering two new shirt designs at this year’s Star Wars Weekends event. Featuring images of Jedi Master Yoda and other famous characters from the beloved Star Wars Saga, both designs will be offered in female sizes with female fits – and, for the first time ever, two popular Her Universe designs will also be available in children’s sizes. The new designs will be available exclusively for a limited time at Disney’s Hollywood Studios during Star Wars Weekends 2011.

But now even though this isn't Star Wars-related, Her Universe has just partnered with the Syfy Channel to bring us lady fans even more cool merchandise!! The premiere launch items, which will include clothing and jewelry, will be available at genre conventions this summer, with San Diego’s Comic Con being the first venue where fans will have the opportunity to purchase select pieces, including a convention “exclusive,” from the collection starting July 20 and running through July 24. Additionally, the items will be available at both Syfy.com and Heruniverseshop.com.

The Syfy Gear/Her Universe collection include original designs that reflect Syfy’s commitment to engaging the imagination, as well as show-specific merchandise from hit Syfy series such as Battlestar Galactica and Warehouse 13.

OK, I power netflixed through the entire series of Battlestar Galactica last November in about 3 weeks. I had no life, I lost some friends, but MAN OH MAN is that series so good! And I can never decide between hotties Helo and Apollo, HELLO!?!! And of course I have the typical girl crush on Starbuck, HOW CAN YOU NOT??

Can't wait to see the new merchandise available this summer, I will def. need to turbo on my Spring cleaning to make some room in my closet!

I recently got the Hasbro Deluxe AT+AT from Think Geek. I was waiting for the right moment to bust it out and build it with my design team. On the box, it said ages 4 and up, I felt that we were ready. I felt that we had matured. The box, enticing in itself, sat on my desk as many passersby commented on it. I’m telling you this, nothing brings people together more than a new Star Wars item in Woodsy’s cube. Ever since Plush Chewie came into my life, my cube and friends haven’t been the same.

Our MTV and Vh1 design team has a weekly meeting to talk about design, inspirations and to just get some quality time together. So I decided that we would do some team building and build my new AT+AT. I mean, why not, RIGHT???

I knew I was in good hands with my designers. It seemed like such a lonely task for one person, but with the team, we were having an AT-AT party! People came by, chatted, laughed, played, and builded...is that even a word?? Read More...

Last week we showed you a bunch of geek-inspired custom motorcycle helmets. This time we’ve stumbled upon the coolest motorcycle face mask ever created. It’s made completely of leather and looks exactly like the lower portion of a Stormtrooper helmet -- the level of badassery is simply unmatched.

The $200 version you see in the photos definitely has more of a steampunk feel to it. However, the leather mastermind behind this Star Wars/biker mash-up (EpicLeather on Etsy) says he can make them in white if you want to ride in true Stormtrooper fashion. In fact, there are a ton of different color options available -- he‘ll even make a green one if you ask nicely! Head past the break for more info and some nice big photos! Read More...

Trash smells like garbage and it’s not fun for anyone to deal with. If you’re looking for a way to make trash day a little more entertaining why not ditch that boring garbage can and upgrade to this awesome Star Wars R2-D2 receptacle? Its $100, but I doubt you’ve ever wanted to play with a trashcan as much as you do right now.

The folks behind this thing have actually done a really good job turning our favorite astromech droid into a place for dirty Padawan diapers. When you step on R2’s front "foot" his head pops open for easy hands-free access. If you’re worried about getting the inside of this awesome trash can dirty, there’s actually a separate interior lining for easy removal -- if you plan on using it and not just putting it in the corner of your basement with the rest of that Hoarders-worthy Star Wars collection. This is beyond awesome! It’s pretty much common knowledge at this point that inspiration for Darth Vader's helmet came from ancient Japanese Samurai. Now Yoshitoku, a 300 year old doll company, has sort of taken a step in reverse by embracing that history and creating an official Darth Vader Samurai Doll!

As part of an annual celebration on May 5th Japanese households display Samurai dolls a means to wish for success in their sons’ futures. This doll was created specifically for these times and is sure to make any geek find success… as a Sith Lord.

It’s incredible to us how awesome this thing looks. The face has more curvature in the way most Samurai masks do, but still clearly portrays our favorite good-guy-turned-bad-guy-turned-good. The classic sword sports a red sheath as a nod to Vader's favorite lightsaber color and a gold Galactic Empire logo fits nicely on top of the helmet -- I wonder if there is one on the back of his robe…

These dolls are very limited -- seriously, they only made 30 -- and cost about $1,700! Yoshitoku began accepting pre-orders on May 9th and will stop accepting them after June 10th. If you want this collectible to top off your Star Wars shrine room you better act fast! Read More...
