EW reports that Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy wants to put out "two or three" Star Wars movies every year. Remember that wait that felt like forever between "Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi"? Now it'd just be like "oh in a few months we get a new one."

Are you a big enough "Star Wars" fan that you'd catch 2-3 new installments every year? Well yeah -- I guess if you're a fan, you probably would.

But how about the ordinary person-on-the-street? Read More...

So remember when Obi Wan cut Darth Maul in half and sent him sailing into the abyss? That was a cool right? Well those of you familiar with "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" know that Mauly survived and was outfitted with a pair of robot legs and is currently wreaking havoc on that far, far away galaxy. Well, according to this bonkers statue from Gentle Giant, Mr. Maul must've rented "Gremlins 2" while waiting to be rescued and got the idea to try out a set of crazy intense spider legs to exact his vengeance of those Jedi scum.

We've seen all sorts of geeky proposals lately, but how would you create the perfect engagement ring for a Star Wars fan? This is the question tattoo and graphic artists Joe P. asked himself when he decided it was time to pop the question and the incredible R2D2 ring you see above is the final result. Read More...

"Start anew, stick to the story and don’t care about the merchandising."

They tell me to have faith. And by “they” I mean “them” and I by “them” I mean the same folks who promised me the prequels would be awesome.  You know these folks – delusional, hopeful, steeped in the Lucas lore yet probably didn’t read "Han Solo and the Lost Legacy".  The same people who didn’t blink at the idea of midichlorians and justified Jar Jar Binks screw up in the Senate as reason for his existence.  These people are wrong and will be again.  Or will they? Whether you were forced to do it in school or just decided to give it a shot on a rainy day, almost everyone has tried their hand at origami. While swans and other critters may be a good place to start, we're way more interested in these awesome Star Wars origami creations. Read More...

Ever since the announcement that Disney nabbed Lucasfilm we've been chomping at the bit for any news about casting in Episodes VII, VIII and IX -- and well, thanks to this leaked vid from Screen Junkies it looks like we've finally got an idea of the direction Disney will take "Star Wars".  And I for one couldn't be more excited.

The Tenth Doctor is back -- well, sort of. Former "Doctor Who" star David Tennant is lending his voice to the Cartoon Network hit "Star Wars: Clone Wars"! He will be playing a droid named Huyang, in an episode airing Nov. 10th called "A Test Of Strength."

The character is described as one who will greatly impact the lives of a group of young Jedi who were just setting out to create their own lightsabers in the previous episode. Read More...

As we wondered openly last week, would the Disney/Lucasfilm merger mean that Leia would now become a "Disney Princess"? This video might provide us with the answers, as Snow White, Belle, Sleeping Beauty, the Little Mermaid, and Cinderella (I'm noticing a serious lack of Jasmine, here) welcome Leia into the fold.

There's of course, lots of singing:

OK folks, take this one with a grain of plastic for the time being. Unless you’ve been under a rock, you’ve heard that Disney acquired Lucasfilm for roughly $4 billion last week and Marvel for around the same price a few years prior. Well, we have it on good authority that serious discussions are happening at the highest levels of both Disney and Hasbro to fold the largest toy and game company on the planet into the Mouse.

From what we’re told, these are still just discussions at this point, but serious enough that something could be announced at any time and create ripples throughout the entertainment industry. The Lucasfilm acquisition has been reported as taking as few as 6 months to complete. On the other hand, Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger has until 2015 on his current contract, and he waited about 3 years in between the acquisitions of Marvel and Lucasfilm, so we may be without firm news on this for some time. You know, after all the coverage about this Disney/Lucasfilm/Episode VII thing, I just couldn't put my finger on what was missing...something to make it all seem finally REAL!  And now I have found it --

Yes, those wags at NMA have done it again, encapsulating the essence of a breaking news story via odd 3-D modelling.

Here are some highlights: Read More...

We've been massively speculating about the recent acquisition of Lucasfilm by Disney, and how that might play out for "Star Wars Episode VII" and beyond. Well, the first fruit of that collaboration is showing up this week... But it's not where you'd expect. Not a new Star Wars movie, or comic, or book... It's C-3P0 and R2-D2 showing up on Disney Channel's "A.N.T. Farm": Read More...

Look, I feel this is inevitable...with Disney/Star Wars dominating the current newscycle like a giant rampaging Wampa, the heat is on Warner Bros. to counter with some kick-ass "Justice League" movie news or something of that magnitude. "Star Wars Episode VII" is going head-to-head with the "JL" film, fer heaven's sake! So is "Avengers," but that's Marvel/Disney...which brings on even MORE pressure for that jaw-dropping, pants-wetting news. (Read more about the "Justice League" movie at MTV Splashpage)

Then again, it may not be about "Justice League" at all. Maybe the WB will acquire their own cool multi-billion dollar franchise and tell the world about it. Here's my completely baseless guesses, once again donning my Sally Speculator cap of pure guessery: Read More...

With the explosive news concerning yesterday's Disney/Lucasfilm deal PLUS the announcement of "Star Wars Episode VII," the amount of related content coming through the interwebs might be enough to make even a seasoned Geek overwhelmed. Helpfully, we've aggregated some of the most interesting, informative, inspirational, and on occasion downright infuriating stories:

HOW NERD-WORTHY MIGHT THIS NEWS BE?

MTV Movies Blog places the Disney/Star Wars news in context of other Great Moments in Geek History -- as they put it, how the event registers on the "Nerd Richter Scale." Will it register higher or lower than Peter Jackson directing "The Hobbit"? Find out at the link! Read More...

Remember this Disney space epic? Exactly.

After the initial excitement of omigodmoreStarWars wore off, I got to think about the company holding on to the license: Disney. Itself long considered the Evil Empire, you'd have been hard-pressed to think last year that the studio that felt uncomfortable putting "Of Mars" in the title for John Carter would figure out to push The Avengers to being one of not only the biggest movies of the year but of all time.

So will we be getting the Disney behind Pirates of the Caribbean? Or the Disney behind Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End? (Check out MTV Movies blog for their "Seven Rules Disney Must Follow" in order to make Episode VII awesome!)

Happy Halloween! With trick-or-treating set to begin this evening, we expect quite a few pint-sized Jedi, Rebel soldiers and Ewoks will be storming the neighborhood. That's all well and good, but they had better keep an eye for this guy, who will apparently be taking to the sidewalk in this awesomely huge Star Wars AT-ST costume. Read More...
