Lets be honest; the speakers on our smartphones and tablets just plain suck. They’re just too small to crank out the tunes like we want. Speaker docks aren't portable and Bluetooth speakers can be pricey, leaving us out of options. The boomCAN from Scosche aims to change all that with a reasonable price and portable form factor. I’ve always had a soft spot for these mini R/C helicopters, but the only one I have ever owned (Air Hogs Havoc Heli) was really hard to control and it‘s foam construction made it feel really cheap. Griffin’s brand new Helo TC looks way more rugged and we can use our iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch as the controller. Read More...

Seems like Starbucks has been doing a lot to get our geeky attention lately. First they made Marvel Digital Unlimited titles available for free when you log onto the store’s Wi-Fi connection and then they came out with an iPhone app you can use to pay for your drinks. Their “Pick of the Week” program has been giving us free tracks from iTunes since 2008 and now it looks like the coffee chain is giving away free apps as part of the program! Read More...

Back in June Apple’s head honcho, Steve Jobs, made a surprise visit to the Cupertino City Council where he revealed plans for the construction of a new Apple HQ. The current situation has Apple employees spread out in rented office space and the new building would bring them together in a centralized campus. Now, new renders of the proposed headquarters have been released -- yea, aside from all the foliage it still reminds me of Tatooine spaceport. Read More...

Matthew James was born without his left hand and has been looking for a way to raise $57,000 to pay for an advanced prosthetic. He sent a letter to Mercedes F1 boss, Ross Brawn, asking for help and got much more than he expected -- the world’s most advanced robotic limb.

Mercedes was so touched by Matthew’s letter they asked fans and sponsors to make donations to help pay for the hand. Mercedes then teamed with Touch Bionics, who make and fit advanced robotic limbs, to design a customized  i-Limb Pulse just for Matthew. The i-Limb is so advanced Matthew can now write, draw and even play catch with his bionic attachment. Read More...

The last real-life Bat-vehicle we talked about was Putsch Racing’s turbine powered Batmobile, today we‘re drooling over this Spire Boat designed by Thierry Mugler. It’s not really a Batboat, but we wouldn't be surprised to see the caped crusader taking it for a spin.

Mugler drew much of the inspiration from muscle cars of the 1950’s and clearly pulled design ideas from Batman's world. Honestly, the Mugler Spire Boat reminds me of the Batmobile seen in the 1960’s television series more than anything else. Read More...

Video-chatters were treated with a nice surprise on August 1st when Skype finally launched an app for iPad and then quickly removed it from the App Store moments later. We had been waiting for this app for quite a while, but Skype apparently launched the app prematurely.
