Welcome to round three of 2013's Battle Arena Otaku Fight! Fight!. We're down to the last eight competitors in MTV Geek's annual brawl between the biggest and best in characters from anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture characters. Not only will we get a chance to spotlight some of most interesting, most intriguing, or simply odd characters from 2013, but it's also a chance to you to have your voice heard. You know the drill: we'll present the matchup, and you the reader will get to choose which character comes out on top. So which mech, heroine (or hero), monster, or mascot will come out on top this year?

Can the combined might of five lions defeat the combined strength of Disney and Square characters? Or has the defender of the universe finally met his match against the Keyblade master?

When Disney started buying up nerd properties like it was Black Friday, fans feared the movies would suffer and the merch would be tasteless. Thus far their fears have been unfounded (t-shirts of Darth Vader riding Dumbo aside). After all, Marvel has continued to flourish under the Disney umbrella and George Lucas butchered a few of his own movies long before the House of Mouse got their mitts on them. But Disney’s acquisition of both properties has provided unexpected inspiration for cosplayers, who have taken brand collaboration to a whole new level. Check out the pictures below, from the D23 Expo this weekend, to see what we’re talking about…

The room was filled with nothing but love and admiration at the Roy E. Disney tribute during D23 Expo on Friday. Those who had waited in line to pay homage to the man who helped shape the Disney company we know today were not disappointed. It wasn't so much of a presentation as it was a conversation between Dave Bossert and Roy's eldest son, Roy P. Disney. They fondly recalled some of their favorite anecdotes and gave everyone an insight into the man behind the name.

Disney promised no big news at this year's D23 Expo, and the company kept their word, revealing nothing concrete--but man, did they tease fans with the possibility of exhibits and attractions based on the "Star Wars" universe coming to their theme parks.

Yesterday, the official "Star Wars" Twitter feed posted the message above, laying out the dates for the regular gathering of the series' faithful to bask in all-things Force-related. What would "Star Wars" sound like without the familiar strains of composer John Williams? We won't be finding out anytime soon, since Disney and LucasFilm have announced that the prolific film composer will be responsible for the music in "Star Wars: Episode VII."

LucasFilm and Disney were noticeably absent from SDCC last week, presumably holding all of their big "Star Wars" news for events they're able to control--like the latest Star Wars Celebration, taking place in Europe. Today's big reveal was that the upcoming Disney Channel series, "Star Wars Rebels," has a logo and some concept art to go with it, based on the designs of the original trilogy concept artist Ralph McQuarrie.

It’s a staple on ABC Family, and a movie that results in a huge case of procrastination when on, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We’ve all seen "Hocus Pocus" a million times since it came out 20 years ago -- yes 20 years ago(!) -- but that doesn’t mean we’re over it. It’s an ode to witch tales, with the myth turned reality , but also a look back at how amazing the '90s were. Only then could cross-trainers be the must-have and SJP be considered the hot one. To celebrate everything from the yabbos to cat who spawned one too many crushes, we’re taking a look at where the cast of "Hocus Pocus" is today.

Johnny Depp has more than enough characters under his belt to identify him with, but it’s hard to think that Jack Sparrow wasn’t always one of them. "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" came out a decade ago on July 9th and forever changed the way we think of the high seas, Tortuga, and of course, the rum. So with that in mind, we’re going to note the top tattoos fans have gotten over the years, and yes, we’re aware Davey Jones didn’t come until later, but he’s too good to ignore.
