Frank-Frazetta-From-Dusk-Till-Dawn

Robert Rodriguez visited Wizard World’s Chicago Comic Con last weekend on a mission to preserve the legacy of fantasy artist Frank Frazetta, but also shared multiple exclusives, including glimpses of his upcoming movies “Machete Kills,” animatics from his Frazetta project “Fire And Ice” and a preview of his upcoming “El Rey Network.

Last Friday’s panel “A Conversation with … Robert Rodriguez” in Room 24 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont during Chicago Comic Con, moderated by yours truly, was first and foremost about Rodroguez’s love of Frazetta. Behind the panel table, Rodriguez was flanked by displays of some of the artist’s famous artwork. The director said Frazetta, who died in 2010, was a major inspiration for him and that Danny Trejo’s Machete character was based off his rendering of Conan.

300: BATTLE OF ARTEMESIUM

The trailer for "300: Rise of an Empire" wasn't just cool action and Lena Heady looking fierce--it's also got some interesting ties to 2006's "300." So while we're all waiting for the movie to make its debut in 2014, MTV Movies got the sequel's director, Noam Murro on the phone to talk about cutting the trailer as well as adapting the film from Frank Miller's source material, "Xerxes."

Avid DC readers have seen Batman and Superman thrown together in a lot of contexts, but most times, they're quite familiar with each other.

In writer Greg Pak and artist Jae Lee's new series "Batman/Superman," launching June 5, it won't be like that. Readers will see the first-ever meeting between the two heroes and, at least at first, they won't be super friendly.

I took a few minutes to chat with Pak about what's in store for the pair.

Peter Weller Talks Legacy In 'Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2'

The forever awesome and intimidating Peter Weller brings an authoritative cadence to his performance as the elder Bruce Wayne/Batman in Warner Bros. Animation's adaptation of Frank Miller's legendary graphic novel in "Batman: The Dark Knight Returns." Check out the former Robocop's thoughts on the legacy of The Bat, the focal point of the vigilante, and how he approached the character from an actor's point of view.

New York Comic Con 2012 opened up for the afternoon on Thursday and one of the first places I hit was the DC Collectibles booth. While there were some great products on display, one giant bat-themed hunk of polystone stood out among the rest like a Batman riding a horse-- cause it actually WAS Batman riding an f'n horse! "The Dark Knight Rises" will forever remain one of my favorite comics of all time and the love it's been getting lately, thanks in no small part to the release of the incredible animated film from WB animation, is a dream come true. This statue embodies the scene later in the mini-series as Bruce leads his army of Bat-lovin' hooligans against the criminals of Gotham City. The sculpt reeks of Frank Miller's line work while adding realistic texturing to the horse, saddle, and batsuit. Read on for a bunch of images I snapped when not wiping the drool from my mouth and fogging up the glass display case!

DC Entertainment and Warner Brothers don't know what they're doing with the next phase in the superhero film franchises. So why not go completely nuts with it and let Miller direct one of them?

It’s been a few days since I sat in a room of screaming, excited fans, watching the world premiere of "Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1" here in New York. Certainly, this is a vastly different experience the rest of you will have when you watch this movie at home (unless you manage to get 280 of your closest friends in one place), so any review of the movie is going to be tainted by the circumstances surrounding the viewing. That’s why I feel confident in saying: it’s pretty good.
