Apple has spent a lot of time (and money) to make sure we all now how cool Siri is. Though they may have had some trouble with the new Maps app, Siri has always been a pretty well-oiled machine and the iOS 6 update made the soft-spoken companion even better. But it looks like Google is hot their heels, as the Google Search app has recently been updated with all-new voice search features, including an awfully familiar voice that talks back to you. Yesterday, Google unveiled an awesome new addition to StreetView – underwater panoramic views of the ocean from six locations around the globe. Taking users on a virtual adventure under the sea, the project aims to create a virtual map of the oceans to educate people on the fragile environment so few get to see up close.

Apple seemed pretty excited to show off their new Maps app (replacing Google's) that launched with iOS 6, but now that everyone's had a chance to get their hands on it, things are looking pretty sour. Not only are some well-known locations labeled completely wrong in the new app, some are entirely absent, while others have been duplicated or moved. Needless to say, iOS users are pretty frustrated at the moment.

To celebrate the 46th anniversary of the world's greatest science fiction show, Google created a very cool interactive Doodle. If you visit Google.com you'll notice each letter is modeled after one of the iconic members of the original "Star Trek" series' cast members. But if you click around the image, you'll see portions of he image become highlighted and clickable, which then activate several of "Trek's" most famous moments for you.

The folks over at DyzPlastic are at it again with a brand new line of Android mascot figures, but this time they’re doing things a little different. The new "Heroes & Villains" line will consist of 4 new figures making their debut at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con!

The new limited edition set was designed by Andrew Bell to fit right in at July’s ultra-nerdfest. One figure will be on sale each day beginning Wednesday, July 20th at the DKE Toys booth (#4728). However, those of you not attending SDCC can get your grubby, geek fingers on these collectibles via the Dead Zebra Shop shortly after the con. If that’s your plan you better be on top of it -- just like previous Android collectibles from DyzPlastic, we’re pretty sure these things will be flying off the digital shelf as soon as they’re available. More photos after the break! Read More...

Comics by comiXology first arrived on the Android Market about six months ago and the app has already seen 1 million downloads!

We’ve known for quite awhile that Google was planning to launch their own OS. They have even gone so far as to send out a bunch of prototype models to folks worthy enough. At their recent Google I/O conference in San Francisco they revealed the first consumer devices that will run the web-based OS and things are looking pretty cool.

Chromebooks aren’t like the PC you're staring at right now. No friends they don’t run Windows, in fact they don’t even run any programs! All of that is taken care of by the cloud. When you boot up a Chromebook (they claim it only takes 8 seconds!) you will be asked to login and automatically taken to Google’s Chrome web browser and users are logged into all the Google services they have an account for. That means, for instance, you’re logged into Gmail, Google Docs, Calender and your PC simultaneously.

Obviously, you’ll need an internet connection if you want to accomplish anything on a Chromebook but Google is making it very easy to get online wherever you are. First off, all Chromebooks (just like any laptop these days) will be WiFi compatible. Secondly, and this is the real kicker, every 3G-equipped model will come with a FREE 100MB per month data plan for the first 2 years you own the product! This way no matter where you are you will be able to access your apps and files that are stored in the cloud. Read More...
