Harry and Voldemort fight in the Battlements. (SC346)

With the announcement of a new, Harry-less "Harry Potter" film, we got to thinking: what other series that could use some (potentially needless, but totally crazy) spinoffs? Whether it's seeing who cleans up The Avengers' garbage or making a mystery out of one lovestruck werewolf's missing shirt, here are six properties that would make six fun spinoffs.

Avengers

With Rebel Wilson ("Pitch Perfect") hosting and taking the stage by storm, there was definitely something for viewers to watch during the 2013 MTV Movie Awards. With a room full of megastars (Jamie Foxx, Emma Watson, Bradley Cooper, and Brad Pitt) and a crowd-pleasing performance by songstress Selena Gomez, there was a lot of star-studded action during this award ceremony. After all the voting was counted and done with, let's see which geeky faves took home the Golden Popcorn at this year's big show!

Stiffed for an award: E.T.

By Steven Smith

I loathe award shows. LOATHE them. And I’ve been to a couple. The key to keeping everyone happy is to open the bars -- but the best way to keeping everyone in their seats is to keep them closed. It’s tricky. Now having stated my loathing, I will say I end up watching the Oscars every year AND I end up getting disappointed every year. It’s long, no one ever gets to finish their speech, who cares who’s wearing what, blah blah BLAHHHH but what is really getting my nerd hackles in a twist is how this year’s Oscars are touting how the Avengers are all reuniting for the ceremony. LAME. Not as lame as referring to Robert Downey, Jr. as RDJ but still pretty darn lame. And their film, one of the highest grossing of all time is nominated for only ONE award. Read More...

Agent Coulson may have met his untimely death in "The Avengers", but his sacrifice served a higher purpose. After seeing Coulson's "near mint" Captain America trading cards covered in blood, the team had no choice but to assemble. Thankfully, that wasn't the only set of Cap cards around. In fact, you can get very your own, just like the one from the movie.

There's the good, the great, and then there's the BEST. Welcome to MTV Geek's Best of 2012 -- what we thought were the cream of the crop this year in the world of GEEK!

As MTV Geek continues our look at the most OMG moments in pop-culture this year, we put a spotlight on one of the most unlikely "superheroes" of 2012...

A "suit," a "Man in Black," a humorless guy working for the Feds or the CIA or some shadowy quasi-governmental organization -- these are not figures I think about when contemplating a "fan favorite" movie hero. That's more like Mr. Smith from "The Matrix," or the guys who chased E.T. There's no way such a character can so inspire countless fans that he would be brought back from the dead and star in his own new TV series, amirite? Read More...

What if “The Avengers” was an animated feature directed by Tim Burton? Apparently, that's the question DevianArtist La-Chapeliere-Folle asked herself when she drew up these strangely Gothic, Nightmare Before Christmas-ish sketches depicting Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

You read that title right, folks! NECA announced their license for toys from Marvel Studios' "The Avengers" a while back, but I (and most people, according to Twitter) thought it would mostly be relegated to Head Knockers and such. Well, we were all wrong! NECA sent along a single photo of the first entry into their "The Avengers" 18" line: Captain America! Honestly, this figure looks really good and appears to feature a lot of the current articulation points seen on NECA's smaller figure lines. If 6", this Cap figure would put the Hasbro version to shame, but at 1/4 scale it heads into Hot Toys and Premium Format territory. We can't wait to see more and for now, here is the full photo, along with some info straight from NECA!
